Weather Vain
Having your own personal weather vain to help you to read the weather
Your new weathervane should more aptly be termed a ‘weather vain’ because it draws on the ebb and flow of nature’s own blood supply: the winds. It is designed to be able to read these winds so as to provide you an accurate reading of whichever wind is currently blowing, thereby allowing you to name the wind, and consequently predict any related oncoming weather changes.
Making an accurate weather vain reading
Once your weathervane is properly installed and aligned, all you need to do to be able to read your weathervane accurately is wait for the pointer to settle. Once the pointer is pointing in one direction, you can align this direction with the compass points below it to name the direction. As the pointer is manipulated so as to point in the source direction of the blowing wind, you now have the original and accurate name of the wind.
What difference does the pointer design make to the reading?
When purchasing a pointer and weathervane combo from Bar Harbor Weathervanes you can be certain that each pointer is correctly balanced and calibrated, regardless of the shape or design.
